TIAONG CHURCH (St. John the Baptist Parish) In 1600, the church was established by the Franciscan Missionaries formerly dedicated to Señor Santiago apostle. In 1606 the Order relinquished the administration of the church to the Augustinians, but on April 2, 1794, it was returned to the supervision of the Franciscans, then dedicating the church to San Juan Bautista. The friars organized the first school, which was house in a convent. Only male pupils from 7 to 14 years of age were admitted. The subject taught were Kartilya Kristiano, Trisagio, Holy Rosary, and Infants Manual.
